Hooowee!!! Yes, I think I understand now .Kapitztke has my mind rolling with the challenges to text and libraries. I have struggled with this stuff and the difficulty getting away from print but i think she has helped me "hyper" that is see "above' or "over". I have been thinking lately that my thinking is changing in the sense that I am starting to look at the big picture. Is this what doing your masters is all about ? Being able to see the big picture? Maybe that word" overarching" is what i'm catching on to. I have so many ideas in my head that i don't know where to start.
For one, I have already shared how difficult i find not dealing in print. Though I understand the hyperliteracies as I am reading on line I am writing notes, not just because I do it to learn and remembe r but so I can look through the notes and connections I have made as I go . i need those immediate thoughts that go through my head, to make sense of the article . To be available to me later so that I can refer back to them so that this information stays in my head . Maybe i am slow but the concepts are outside of my present schema for understanding this stuff and I have to go back reread and think, reflect and then go back again. My reflection time has been in the garden of late. So if I am finding this difficult, that is not having a print format to write my thoughts on; to keep them so I can refer back. How will our students do it? What do we need to teach them? How do you do it? Are there tools out there where you can write into a text online so as to include these thoughts and keep them forever if I choose? It seems to me somewhere in our clases Ray referred to commenting to texts. I know he can do it as a professor but wht about us lay people?
Since starting these masters courses I have sbegun to think that the most important thing about learning isd making connections. We always talked about it being important to activate the students' prior knowledge ., that is their 'connections ' to prior knowledge and now we are reading of connecting to the other thoughts , informationa nd ideas out there in cyberspace. it is all about connections whether in the real sense of an internet connection or a good article or the mental sense of connecting with the information.

And I like that Lori, Just posting for posting's sake. Took my a while to get that....I kept thinking there was more to what you'd posted in each posting but I'd click on it and it would just take me to your blog.

You write beautifully, by the way. I'll respond when there's more time. Running out of steam now.

Hey Donna! Have you figured out yet where to post things? Discussion about Chapter 6 goes in this "Groups" section...start a new discussion, I guess or just reply to someone else's. Other things can be added as replies to Marlene's original questions to us in the "Forum" section. You'll see there are a ton of responses to the first reading we had to do.

Just posting something because I see the groups keep moving around and we're second last, just ahead of the UBC T-Ls who may not be using this site anymore. We can't fall to the bottom! I suspect those who've posted more recently rise to the top. Ha ha. Theory Junkies will outwit them all!

Hi! Can't believe we're into the final two weeks of this course. I feel I've been so enriched by what we've done so far. Looking forward to where Marlene will lead us.
