My activity is geared toward grade 2 and I am planning to execute it this week with my class. since this is the end of the year and everyone is gearing down the computer lab becomes a busy place. I read through everything I posted and I was a little disappointed in my personal blogs, so I think my strongest reflections were all posted to the forum. I have mixed feelings over this part of the course. At first I thought I really had a grasp on "new literacies" even before we delved deep into the readings, then I realized I didn't. I found these so hard to understand. I don't know if I was just tired, or if they really were difficult. The 2005 article which is where she talks a lot about the National Geographic site really frustrated me. I was frustrated with the site not with Kapitzke. The thought of all the advertisements, and "nonsense" articles really started to change my opinion of National Geographic(NG). I grew up with that magazine being "the" source for reliabe information.
