Hi Melanie,
If you go to Forum -- you'll see a discussion labelled What's new about the new literacies. I suggest you skim through that (there's a lot now -- interesting stuff!) and add a thought but without being redundant of what has been said. I will read your personal blog tomorrow as I have a long day of conference sessions and meetings with Ray today - and a long commute! Thanks for keeping me posted on where you are!
have a good day too,
Marlene

Hi Melanie,

The baby boy has arrived I hear. Congrats. Hope all is well. Take care of yourself and your family; the rest will fall into place.

Hi Melanie! How are you feeling? I understand your fears of missing some time. It'll all work out, though. Just wait till that little baby comes. Missing a few classes won't seem so significant in the big scheme of things. Take care!

As I am reading Chapter 3 in the text, I am thinking alot about the topic I would like to research. Sometimes I think it is manageable and then it changes and I think I should find something else. I hate that!!

Hi Melanie,
for your note. If you live in Mill River, do you know Darlene and Eugene Gallant? The MacLellan crew from Indian River used to visit them at their cottage on the river every July 1st weekend form many years. My sister- in- law went to nursing school with Darlene. Small world .
See you in class tomorrow, Pam.

Curriculum Plan Activity by Mel C

Overview:
Current teaching practices and learning models stress the importance of using a constructivist approach to ensure that students are learning by making sense of the world with the resources provided through the curriculum. In order to this, students need to learn with others while constructing their own knowledge in an individual process. Here is a lesson plan that explores natural disasters for a Grade 7 Social Studies class that attains curriculum outcomes for both Social Studies and… Continue

Popular Adolescent Websites as Educative Literacy??

To begin my discussion on A New Literacy Sampler reading, I would like to write down a few points that I found interesting;
* “If there is no ‘text’ there is no literacy.”
*”Literacy= socially organized practices that make use of a symbol system and a technology for producing and disseminating it.”
* “Articulation and interpretation= Writing and Reading”

I read in Chapter one that the information revolution is actually a relationship revolution. I thought that was a neat thought, since literacy… Continue

At Home Learning!!

Hi there fellow master students! In one way I appreciate the not having to drive an hour and a half to class this week, but having three kids home from school today and a 3 month old to care for, it is hard to find the time to sit down at the pc and work. There better be school tomorrow!!

See you all next week, I hope!!

anticipations

As I am trying to clarify my research topic, problem, purpose, etc, I find it helpful to refer to Chapter 3 of the text. I feel a bit less confused on determining somewhat the difference between these "distinct" elements of the statement problem. Hoping it will be clearer than mud soon. I am worried about missing a class in the next few weeks too.
